Appeal for Evesham

Battle Walk

Simon de Montfort Society appeal for Battlefield Walk, the place of his death 1265

"At last after many years of effort we are on the way to obtaining a battlefield walk for Evesham. Thanks are due to the Rudge estate and its tenants , and not least to the hard work of the committee.

We have now succeeded in becoming tenants of the Battlefield field on Greenhill. This, the traditional place of Simons death will, with the permission of the Rudge estate and generous co-operation of the other tenants, become part of what we hope will eventually become a Battlefield Walk covering some of the finest views in the Vale"

Iris Pinkstone Easter 2005 ( Chairman Simon de Montfort Society )

For visitors to be able to walk the Battlefield of 1265 after visiting the Simon de Montfort memorial stone and Abbey would be a great bonus, something the Society as been working too for many years. As with all projects such as this the Society needs all the cash it can get.

We would love your help.

The Society is a British registered Charity number 1092319. That registration brings tax breaks in the UK and as such external audit so all donations are used very carefully.

Firstly we would like to increase membership of The Simon de Montfort Society. At £8 it is not expensive. (if you live outside the UK an additional amount for the extra postage would be appreciated )

Even if you live far away from Evesham and can't get to the 16+  talks and outings each year, there is the three times a year magazine to keep you in touch. Perhaps when visiting the our part of England you will come and see us, you won't be disappointed the country side around is wonderful. Plus, there is Kenilworth Castle, Simons fortress, a ruin now, but well worth a visit

Please see my Simon de Montfort society page where you will find more details.
