Joan of Arc - Jeanne d'Arc

Joan of Arc - Jeanne d'Arc or The Maid of Orleans France's best known figure from the Hundred Years War.  Born in 1412, left her village of Domremy at the age of 16 with a divine mission to lead the knights of France to victory against the English and their allies.

She succeeded with the army under her command in her goal of relieving Orleans and having her King crowned in Rheims. After the successful outcome of the battle of Patay in 1429.Life went from bad to worse, she was captured on May the 25th 1430 and deserted by the French King was burn as a witch at Rouen in 1431.

Her military careen lasted a mere thirteen months, she was only 19 years old but her vision helped the French army regain their pride pushing the English back to the English channel.

Most paintings and models show Joan fair haired, but records show her hair to be black.

Collecting Joan in miniature is probably the most rewarding of all medieval personalities as many miniaturists love creating her image.
