Knights of Avalon

Gawain- One of Arthur’s main knights and the subject of many adventures, including Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. He is the eldest son of Morgause and Lot, and the brother of Agravain and Gareth. Gawain is given the gift by some authors of growing stronger as noon approaches. At one time a staunch ally of Lancelot, he firmly opposes him after Guinevere and Lancelot’s affair becomes public. Gawain' s character changes with each new text written. In early romances he is much more likeable than in later works. In the Welsh tradition, Gawain survives Arthur’s last battle and Arthur abdicates the throne to him.
