Britains as such is often used as an generic term in auction catalogues to describe all lead figures. The Company was founded by William Britain in 1845 at Britains Ltd, 28 Lambton Road, Hornsey, London

UK's oldest manufacturer started 1893 and still produces figures under the name of Britains. Production is mainly in China .
