Knights of Avalon

Arthurian places of interest

"Looking for the real Arthur" fractural books have also been published with a vengeance over the past few years, my remainder book shop have titles regularly . Over the last year these factual books have shown Arthur living in Wales, Anglesey, Scotland, Cornwall, North and South England and my last read ,he was a War Lord from Russia.. Who knows, will we ever have concrete evidence of his existence, does it really matter. Do we want the facts ,if he existed, was he not one but three great war chiefs or perhaps a post Roman Warlord, or ,or, we all can wonder. What he was not is knight dressed 14th armour portrayed in the movies and paintings.

Sadly in the UK there is so much local pride to placing him in certain parts of the country, this can be put down to either nationalistic one-upmanship and tourism, surely the Arthur legend is bigger than these petty squabbling over origin ownership.

Its great fun when travelling round the the UK visiting the various site linked to the name of King Arthur. I'll slowly add photos as I visit.

Dozmary Pool on Bodmin Moor
Is Dozmary Pool is not far from the famous Jamaica Inn in the heart of Bodmin Moor. IS this is the pool where Bedivere was asked by King Arthur to throw his magical sword. Depending on the weather conditions it can sometimes be very atmospheric.

Arthur's Stone Hereford
Not far from the famous book town of Hay on Wye this Neolithic site dating back to at least 3500 BC. Its connection with the King Arthur is not that old as in an antiquarians report dated 1728 it was called Artil's Stone.
