| Britains Swoppets knights |
|
Britains Swoppets 1961 - 1968 Surely the finest
plastic toy knights.
As the name suggests,
the body parts and accessories were indeed swappable, from one figure
to another. Legs, body, head,
plume, shield, crests the list went on, given the different colour' s of the
plastic you could give yourself an army of knights all with an individual dress sense.
|
|
The 6 foot knights were introduced in 1959 and deleted in 1969
and the 4 mounted knights
introduced in 1960 deleted in 1972
|
|
Shields are not very
realistic, but the sword scabbard is a treat made of printed and folded metal
with its detailed sword which can also be fitted into the knights hand.

I have found reins in 4 different
shapes and a plain, but there are probably more variations in
all colours. |
|
There were approx 9 different shield designs, about 6
different plumes, over 12 different crests, all in different
colours. |
|
The wonderful design of the these Britains knights
made it possible to make so many completely different combinations of
horse, shield, Weapon, that as a collector its difficult to know what
is factory production and not a swoppeted model, just as the makers
had wished, what play value. |
